Things to do while on the Cape
While Eastham is bereft of a town center, it is endowed with stunning dune-backed beaches. One of the four original settlements on Cape cod, Eastham remains relatively undiscovered. There is no formal Main Street or identifiable town center here – though visitors are drawn here by the National Seashore’s Headquarters at the Salt Pond Visitors Center and by the dune-backed expanses of Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach on the open Atlantic Ocean. The Cape’s oldest remaining windmill, the historical society’s museum and the Swift-Daley House bear witness to the town’s antiquity, along with First Encounter Beach along Cape Cod Bay, where Myles Standish and his Pilgrim scouting party first met the Nauset Indians in 1620.

Rainy Day Ideas:
There are many museums and things to do if it rains. Antique stores are everywhere, shopping is endless and in all directions of the inn. We have several rainy day itineraries that are also great for the off-season and winter months as well.
Nantucket & Martha's Vineyard (Hyannis 30 minutes, Harwich 25 minutes, Woods Hole 1 hour):
These 2 islands are very different from each other and you should leave 1 day for each. We recommend if you plan on visiting one of the islands from our inn, to stay for a minimum of 3 nights, if you plan on visiting both stay 5 nights or more. Both Islands can be reached by either Ferry or Car. Nantucket Ferries all leave from either Hyannis or Harwich Harbor, while Martha's Vineyard ferries leave from Hyannis or Woods Hole. We don't recommend taking your vehicle as it is very difficult to schedule a car reservation without at least 1 week notice (standby is not recommended), plus you don't really need a car for a day trip as both islands have taxis, mopeds or bus service. Some people bring their bikes or rent bikes on the islands.
For those who have to see 2 islands in one day there is a special HyLine Cruise which departs at 9am sharp from Hyannis, arrives at Nantucket at 10:50, then you go over to Martha's Vineyard (Oak Bluffs) at 2:50pm arriving there at 4pm and then you head home at 8:55pm arriving in Hyannis at 9:50pm. This cruise is from 6/18-9/10 and the cost is $68.50/person round trip + fees.

Provincetown 30 minutes away
Provincetown has great personality and several festival during the year. Provincetown is famous for people watching, but it is also great for whalewatching trips, sailboat trips, pirate museums and a gorgeous view of the cape from the Pilgrim Monument.
